Able Seafarer Engine

Scope:

This course is designed to comply with the requirements of Regulation III/5, Section A‐III/5, and Table A‐III/5 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, STCW 1978, as amended.

Goals:

Train crew procedures and engine watchkeeping techniques and provide the officer on duty a person with the skills and abilities required to attend the same during the course of the engineering watch, engine. The seafarer will be able to assist the officer on duty at engine room in all functions related to instrumentation, workshop, tool, equipment and engine room procedures.

Prerequisites:

This course is available to oilers, engine mechanics who wish to be part of a navigational watch, or those sailors with experience as helmsman or AB seaman aboard merchant ships. No pre‐ customized to participate in this course, however, participants must be of legal age (18 or older) and possess a certificate of good health.
