Advanced Training In Fire Fighting
Scope
This course is designed to comply with the requirements laid down in Rule VI/3, section A‐VI/3, table A‐VI/3 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for seafarers STCW 1978, as amended.
General objectives
The crew will be able to meet the minimum standards of competence in the fight against fires advanced level, shall be competent to take command and organize arranged on board fire‐control equipment, control and monitor the operations of firefighting. Seafarers will have acquired a knowledge of fire prevention and the ability to inspect equipment and fire detection systems. It will also be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fires aboard.
Prerequisites
The course is open to seafarers who has completed basic training in fire prevention. All students must be certified by a physician to be in good health. This course is available for those officers on duty who have the aptitude and capacity time required to serve as captains or first officers of bridge of ships of a gross tonnage equal to or greater than 500. Participants must have a deck officer title.
