Advanced Training For Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations

Scope:

The course takes full account of Chapter V Regulation V/1-1, Chapter V Section A-V/1-1.3 and Table A-V/1-1-3 of the 2010 STCW Code and complies with the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) requirements as satisfying part of the prerequisites for issue of a tanker endorsement by the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA).

It provides specialist training in subjects appropriate to the duties of senior officers and any person with immediate responsibility for loading, discharging, care in transit or handling of bulk chemical cargoes. Tanker terminal and ship management personnel will build on previous experience and gain a detailed appreciation of the safety aspects involved in the handling and carriage of chemical cargoes.

Prerequisites:

A candidate must have attended an STCW ’95 approved Tanker Familiarisation Training course, or STCW 2010 Basic Training in Oil and Chemical tanker cargo operations or have at least three months’ seagoing service on the type of tanker to which the certification is sought.

In addition to this a candidate with sea service alone has to demonstrate that they meet the applicable competency table requirements. Verification of this will be assessed at the start of the course and the candidates must attain a mark of at least 50 per cent in order to continue on to the advanced tanker course.
